If you ask any well learned math scholar he would tell you that video games are the ideal means to learn mathematics and this is in fact true.  The traditional symbols of math that we are familiar with were developed to do mathematics on a sheet of paper, well historically they were modeled to do it in on clay tablets, parchment and then later on blackboards. In all honesty it was static representation of our form of thinking. Right now we have video games and tablet computers that allow us a different model of thinking that breaks through the ‘symbol’ barrier.  What one must understand is to view the game as a representation of mathematics that replaces the traditional symbols with one that takes advantages of the many different affordances that video game technology offers.  No one is implying that we should abandon the traditional symbolic representation for mathematics but we should indeed keep our minds open about a new groundbreaking pathway.
