With the depletion in the non-renewable resources in the world, people are opting for more efficient sources of energy. Solar energy is one of those, which works by capturing the sun’s energy and turning it into electricity by using solar panels. Solar panels are made up of multiple solar cells. They are made of silicon which also are semiconductors. The positive layer and negative layer in the solar cell create an electric field together just like a battery. The photons hitting the solar cell knock electrons off their atoms. When a conductor is attached to the positive and negative side of the cell, an electric circuit is formed. The electrons flowing through this circuit generate electricity. Several cells make up a solar panel and several panels wired together form a solar array. Therefore, you can generate more energy by deploying more panels. The solar panels generate Direct Current (DC). Electrons flow in a single direction around the circuit in DC electricity.
