The Big Bounce is a hypothetical cosmological model for the origin of the universe. It states that the Big Bang is as a result of the collapse of a previous universe. The big Bounce envisions that at the big bang is the starting point of a period of expansion in the universe followed by a contraction. This period of contraction is termed as the big crunch. The only problem is that according to quantum physics, as density approaches Infinity all the fundamental physical constraints including the speed of light in vacuum differs. The model, however, does not explain when and how the currently expanding universe will begin to contract. The phrase "Big Bounce" first appeared in the scientific literature in 1987, when it was first used in the title of a pair of articles (in German) in Stern und Weltraum by Wolfgang Priester and Hans-Joachim Blome.
