In physics, the term light is used to refer to a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Visible light is that part of the spectrum which can be visible to the human eye. This ranges in the 400–700 nanometres. The most stunning aspect of light is that it is the fastest travelling phenomenon in the universe. It is a universal constant and there is absolutely no entity that can match the speed of light.
Light being an EM radiation propagates as waves but the energy imparted by the waves is absorbed at single locations and this absorbed energy is called a photon. It is the most fundamental particles and represents the quanta of light. When a wave of light is transformed and absorbed as a photon, the energy of the wave instantly collapses to a single location, and this location is where the photon "arrives." This is what is called the wavefunction collapse. This dual wave-like and particle-like nature of light is known as the wave-particle duality.
